DIYARBAKIR — The 11th hearing in the trial of journalist Abdurrahman Gök, who is accused of “membership in a terrorist organization” and “terrorist propaganda” based on his professional activities and statements by state witness Ümit Akbıyık, was held at the Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court.
Gök and his lawyer, Resul Tamur, attended the hearing, which was also monitored by representatives of the Human Rights Association (İHD) and the Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG).
The hearing began 20 minutes later than scheduled. During the session, Tamur did not present a defense statement and instead requested that outstanding procedural deficiencies be addressed.
Following the request, the court panel ruled to wait for the outcome of a separate case file involving Gök that is currently before Turkey’s Court of Cassation. The court adjourned the trial until 10 a.m. on Sept. 22.
