Can Dündar's case hearing adjourned until Jan 2019

Elif Akgül, İstanbul - Case hearing of journalist Can Dündar who is facing terrorist propaganda charges, was held today at the İstanbul 22. High Criminal Court.

Dündar is being charged with terrorist propaganda based on his participation in the campaign launched by Özgür Gündem, known as the Editor-in-Chief-On-Watch. Campaign was aimed to show support and solidarity for the now shuttered, pro Kurdish media outlet Özgür Gündem. Dündar, who fled the country after an assassination attempt that took place in front of the İstanbul Çağlayan Courthouse, did not attend the hearing however his lawyer Halil Kocabaş was present in the courtroom. The hearing was monitored by Media and Law Studies Association as well as reporters from different media outlets.

The hearing went on for about 15 minutes, where the defense lawyer made no requests and the court made an interim decision for the continuation and execution of the arrest warrant of Can Dündar. Hearing was adjourned until Jan 31, 2019.
