Government-appointed trustee demands accounting info from Özgürlükçü Demokrasi

An auditor for the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) has asked Özgürlükçü Demokrasi newspaper's accountants to hand over the bookkeeping records of the newspaper, although the newspaper representatives have yet to see an official document confirming that the newspaper was seized by the government.

Levent Bozkurt, a TMSF auditor, has asked accountants of Özgürlükçü Demorkrasi and Gün Printing, which publishes the newspaper, to hand over official accounting records.

However, he failed to present any document confirming his role as a government-appointed trustee.

In another development, İstanbul Deputy Chief Prosecutor from the Terror and Organized Crime Investigation Bureau Hasan Yılmaz has denied a meeting request from the newspaper's lawyers for the third day in a row, citing being busy as his reason.

A clerk for the prosecutor's office said he might agree to meet with the lawyers on Monday.

Özgürlükçü Demokrasi offices were raided as part of an operation on 28 March. At least 25 people, including journalists and print press workers, were detained in the operation.
