Prosecutor asks for formal arrest of Kurdish reporter

Five people including Duygu Erol, a reporter with the pro-Kurdish and feminist news agency Jin News, were referred to an Ankara court on 23 March with a prosecutor demanding their formal arrest.

Erol was taken into police custody in a home raid on 20 March as part of an operation in which 10 others were also detained. Jin News reported that six of the detained were released after testifying to a prosecutor on Friday but Jin News reporter Duygu Erol and four others were referred to a Criminal Judgeship of Peace with the prosecutor demanding their arrest.

Jin News didn't clarify the nature of the charges on which Erol was referred to the judgeship.
