Regional court rejects the mass appeal of 26 journalists, including Oğuz Usluer

An appeal by 26 journalists was rejected on October 22 by İstanbul Regional Court 2nd Criminal Chamber. Some have been completed their prison sentence, but others – including Oğuz Usluer, a former Habertürk Coordinator who was represented by the Legal Unit of the Media and Law Studies Association, remain imprisoned.

Among the other journalists involved in the case were Atilla Taş and Murat Aksoy, who were released from prison in October 2017. The İstanbul Regional court decided that the evidence contained in the case file was sufficient to prove the criminal charges against the journalists, and rejected the appeal request in limine.
