Turkey: Two Mezopotamya journalists briefly detained while covering event in Istanbul

The responsible managing editor of the pro-Kurdish news agency Mezopotamya Elif Çetiner and Melike Ceyhan, a reporter with the same news agency were detained by police on 18 February in Istanbul.

They were detained while covering an event in Beyoğlu district, the socialist daily Evrensel reported.

Police offered no explanation on the reason for the journalists' detention. The two journalists were released in the evening the same day.
